How Can We Approach Energy Neutrality in Our Wastewater Treatment Plants

A wastewater treatment plants must treat wastewater under all conditions, despite the changing composition of the wastewater. Wastewater treatment plant operators, therefore, have the demanding task of managing interdependent wastewater treatment processes.
For this, they need the proper equipment, knowledge, and experience. During this interactive training, the lecturer will present ways of improving the efficiency of processes and the possibility of achieving an energy neutral and a highly efficient wastewater treatment process. Participants will learn about the basic and advanced concepts of wastewater treatment processes, such as filtration, MBBR technology, deammonification process, disinfection, and removing the micro-pollutants.
Prof. Hallvard Ødegaard
From 1977 to 2011, Prof. Hallvard Ødegaard worked as a professor in the field of wastewater treatment at the Department of Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Since 1998 he has been the Managing Director of the company Scandinavian Environmental Technology Ltd. He has published over 320 articles in professional literature and giving lectures at numerous international conferences and workshops. He is the inventor of the MBBR technology. For his work, he received important awards and recognitions such as: Knight of the 1st class of the Royal Norwegian St. Olavs order (in2011), International Water Association (IWA) Distinguished Fellow (in 2014) and IWA Honorary Member (2016).
